This past October one of my good friends from Edmonton came to visit me in Edinburgh. I was excited to be able to have someone new to show around my “home” city. She was only here for 5 days, which is not nearly enough to show here all the places that I wanted to, but that just means another visit is in order soon!
The first thing we did was take a day trip to through the Scottish Highlands to Fort Augustus. This is the same tour I did last May, when we went searching for Nessie. The Highlands are one of my favourite parts of Scotland, so I didn’t mind heading up there again.
I think I preferred the tour this time, Scotland just looks so good in October. Here are some of the photos from our trip.
The beginning of the trip didn’t look to promising. We were driving in and out of the fog, and could hardly see what was a few feet in front of us.
Scenes From the Window
We managed to get the front seat of the bus. Once the fog cleared up we were able to enjoy the views.
Sometimes you gotta slow down, and just enjoy the view.
The Stops Along the Way to Fort Augustus
Last time I took a tour of the Highlands, I took a boat ride over the loch to search for Nessie. This time we skipped the boat ride and decided to explore the town a bit, and stop for a pint and some food. I defiantly recommend skipping the boat ride if you’re short on time.
And lastly a selfie at the end of the tour.
